Deadline are reporting that Jaume Collet-Serra (UNKNOWN) and Noam Murro (SMART PEOPLE), are among the potential directors for the planned 300 prequelm which is now being called 300: BATTLE OF ARTEMISIA. It was previously referred to as Xerxes and is based on a forthcoming comic book title by Frank Miller.
Zack Snyder, who helmed the first film in the planned series starring Gerard Butler, will now not return to the director’s chair as he’s off fiming some SUPERMAN movie entitled MAN OF STEEL. There is apparently an option for Butler to return for this.
Despite having just the one feature, the aforementioned comedy SMART PEOPLE starring Sarah Jessica Parker to his name, Murro is being considered due to his work on commercials and the marketing campaign for the HALO video game. Jaume Collet-Serra is hot property following helming UNKNOWN starring Liam Neeson, which I thought was a pretty solid actioner. He is also attached to direct DIE HARD 5.
