Naseer Khan’s dream run ‘Shadow’ is a slapdash show

Touted as the actor Naseer Khan’s dream debut, Rohit Nayyer directed suspense thriller ‘Shadow’ fails to capture the popular imagination of cinema-goers this weekend. ‘Shadow’ is the tale of a cold-blooded assassin Arjun Sherawat (Nasser Khan) who is on a killing spree and has held the city under the siege of terror. Overnight notorious for his crime, Arjun Sherawat is the latest media scoop.
Arjun is being chased by police officer Sanjana (Sonali Kulkarni) and is followed by crime journalists Sheetal (Hrishitaa) and Rahul (Milind Soman). The news of Sherawat being dead and paradoxically, the very next moment his open challenge to kill his new target shocks the entire media fraternity and the police department as everybody is puzzled by the real identity of Sherawat. As a suspense thriller flick, the rest of the film tries to decipher the true identity of Sherawat and unlocking the murder mystery.

Overall, the film is all smoke no water that fails to deliver on several occasions. The USP of the movie is its lead actor Nasser Khan – a blind guy who performs his own stunts in the movie for the first time in history of Indian cinema. Well, the movie is okay in terms of technicality but when it comes to content, it is a big dud. The film takes full cinematic liberty thereby taking it to the level of improbability.

Nevertheless, if we take the case of actor Naseer Khan, he is no big star yet; the actor has given a commendable performance when it comes to dances and stunts. Talking about other stars, Milind Soman and Sachin Khedekar have delivered a convincing performance and Samir Aftab and Hrishitaa Bhatt are wasted.

On the whole, ‘Shadow’ may be the dream run for Nasser Khan but it’s a nightmare for cinema goers.

Ratings: One cheer for this one.
